President Mahmoud Abbas of the Palestinian Authority has said at the 78th Meeting of the United Nations General Assembly that: "it is a dream and an invalid concept to be able to bring about a solution and peace without the Palestinian nation getting its legal rights". According to AAA, Abbas said, "30 years have passed since the Oslo Accords were reached, but despite that we still have hope that the resolutions of the United Nations will be implemented", and he added by saying: "The violent Zionist regime is giving permission to attack the city of Baitul Muqaddas (Jerusalem), violating the rights of its residents and violating our honor". The President of the Palestinian Authority has said: "We want the international community to be responsible for preserving the historical and legal status of Baitul Muqaddas, and we want an international peace conference to be held attended by all parties concerned with peace in the West Asian region.

Parallel and emphasizing that the Palestinian nation defends its land and its legal rights through the peaceful stand of the people, Abbas has called for practical measures to be taken and the implementation of United Nations resolutions related to officially recognizing the country of Palestine. In addition, the President of the Internal Authority of Palestine has said, he does not know why the United States and European countries refuse to recognize the country of Palestine. In his speech, Mahmoud Abbas has also warned about turning the political crisis into a religious conflict in the occupied territories and he said, Israel will bear the responsibility of the issue.
