An attack on a mosque for family reasons has injured 24 people, including children, in northern Nigeria
Police spokesman Abdullahi Haruna has explained in a statement that the suspect, a 38-year-old resident of the area, has admitted that he attacked the mosque located in the remote village of Gadan but only because of enmity stemming from long-term family differences.

The incident that happened yesterday morning caused panic in Kano, Nigeria's largest state in the north, where frequent riots related to religious reasons have occurred for years, sometimes leading to violence.

Haruna has pointed out that the initial professional investigation shows that the explosion that occurred in the mosque was caused by petroleum, but the full investigation is still ongoing.

According to the Police, the injured were rushed to the hospital in the capital of the state to be treated.

The Daily Trust newspaper has reported that the believers were locked inside the mosque and thus it was difficult for them to escape from the explosion. According to the newspaper, the suspect had attacked people in the area in the past because of the same family dispute.

The Police statement has explained that the source of the dispute is a misunderstanding about the manner of sharing the inheritance and that the suspect of the incident has claimed that those who cheated him were in the mosque at the time and that he did it so that his voice could be heard.../
