Auschwitz Revisited: The Plight of Palestinian Captives in Israeli Prisons

In the aftermath of Operation Al-Aqsa Storm, even Palestinian detainees held in Israeli prisons were not safe from the brutalities inflicted by the Israeli forces. Shorouk Dwayyat, one of the Palestinians who were released as part of the prisoner exchange agreement, has shed light on the complete isolation endured by the Palestinian detainees. According to her testimony, one week after the war, Israeli prison guards fired tear gas at the prisoners' cells without any justification. The next act of barbarism involved the deliberate deprivation of food and water. Furthermore, it entailed the transfer of 11 female captives to a cell that could only accommodate 4 people, reminiscent of the Nazi torture methods employed in the Auschwitz camp. However, this time it was carried out by the Israelis. Additionally, she mentioned the incidents involving heavily armed Israeli prison guards who would occasionally launch attacks on the cells where Palestinian prisoners were held. These are just a fraction of the crimes committed by an army that the Western media has portrayed as the epitome of ethical conduct.
