Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei wants the students to have a critical attitude
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution, as an annual tradition in Ramadan, met and talked for 2.5 hours on Sunday with nearly 3,000 students and political, social, cultural and scientific representatives of Iran's universities.
In the beginning of this meeting, some of the representatives of student establishments raised their views, criticisms and suggestions about the issues of Iran and the world. Then, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution expressed his views.
Imam Khamenei, in the beginning of his speech and with respect to the blessed month of Ramadan, said that the main way for preserving luminosity and purity obtained in Ramadan is to avoid sin.
The Leader, considered negligence towards sinfulness of some works as the cause of committing them, and said, "Some speeches and writings on the cyberspace which are done without research, attention and care, are examples of negligent sin and the individual should definitely be accountable before God." He added, "Of course, I never recommend conservatism, relinquishing criticism and objection, but we should take care in our every word and deed."
He called the problems existing in the society and country much more than what the students raised, and said, "The main job of a student is to study, but beside that, looking at people and society and presenting solution for problems is among the indispensable duties of students."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution said on the realities of the corrupt, treacherous and dependent Pahlavi system, "In that era, on the top of a great country like Iran, an inferior family suffering from a variety of corruptions was ruling the people; meanwhile, regarding the administration of the society, there was an absolute despotism and, unlike today, people were not present or involved in the country's issues and were not accounted for."
Ayatollah Khamenei also pointed to being a political puppet, obedience of foreigners in oppressing and bullying towards people, snacking the West's leftovers, intensive class gap, senselessness of justice, severe discrimination, special gains of all officials and affiliates of the court as other realities before the revolution.
Ayatollah Khamenei described the perfect form of these struggles as people's struggle against the rebellious regime with religious scholars in the front and Imam Khomeini as the Leader, and continued, "Imam [Khomeini] mobilized the people in a religious and national move and the revolution was created in this way which is the historical ID of the Iranian nation."
The Leader went on to say, "The ideals of the Islamic Republic are summarized under two general titles, 'Administration of country in an Islamic way' and 'Presentation of a role model to the world people for proper administration of a country'. You students, in the intellectual and research circles and sessions and communication with theorists who believe in the revolution, should work and try for constant renewal of materialization of these two titles."
Ayatollah Khamenei, enumerated public welfare, physical and moral security, scientific progress, expansion of health, keeping the population young, a variety of constructions, innovation and justice as the main headings of material progress, and said, "Justice should be understood properly. It means negation of class discrimination in using public opportunities and making equal opportunities accessible for people since creation of special privilege in using opportunities is oppression and against justice."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution also called ethics, religiousness, cooperation, Islamic lifestyle, self-sacrifice and struggle as the headings of spiritual progress, and stated, "Materialization of all these factors and material and spiritual headings requires planning, new and updated thought and idea which the student community should work and strive in this field, alongside being concerned and demanding."
He considered the second ideal of the Islamic Republic, i.e. presentation of a role model for administration of country to the world, as sympathy and benevolence for the world people, and said, "This ideal has almost been materialized in some dimensions and many events that excite young people like you and you are boastful of them in the region and the world ae related to your country, society and revolution."
Ayatollah Khamenei elsewhere in his remarks, called knowledge as the main basis of university and emphasizing on three main duties of university, namely, "scholar training", science production", and "directing of scholar training and science production", said, "The world universities are troubled in the third duty which is directing of scholar training and science production, and that's why their products turn into the tools in the hand of arrogant and Zionist powers"
Referring to the efforts in universities so that the Iranian student considers his reputation in hanging to the West, the Leader reiterated, "Establishments of students should actively stand against these efforts."
