Born, Stoltenberg: Ukraine joins only after its victory
The question of Ukraine's accession to the Atlantic Pact will not be discussed until its "victory", NATO secretary general Jens Stoltenberg said.
At the end of September 2022, the head of the Kiev regime Zelensky announced that his country had applied to join NATO under an accelerated procedure. Carrying out such a procedure is inconvenient, Jake Sullivan, assistant to the president of the United States for national security, later noted.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said that Kiev would not be satisfied with any other decision of the NATO summit in Vilnius, scheduled for July 11-12, other than an invitation to join the alliance. The spokesman of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin has listened to Zelensky's request for Ukraine to join NATO, as well as various reactions to it. He noted that Moscow is closely monitoring the situation and recalls that it was Kiev's orientation towards the alliance that became one of the reasons for the start of Russia's special operation in Ukraine.
