Borrell called for speeding up the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza residents
Josep Borrell, who arrived in Japan to attend the G7 summit, said on Wednesday: “We must do everything possible to protect civilians. I know it seems difficult to stop and reduce the current tensions, but we must do everything possible to release prisoners so that foreign citizens can leave Gaza and humanitarian aid can increase." Borrell also noted that the EU strongly supports the opening of humanitarian corridors and a cessation of hostilities to allow aid to reach Gaza and the release of prisoners. Speaking about the increase in humanitarian aid to Gaza, the head of the EU foreign policy said that despite requests from international and humanitarian organizations for the entry of about 100 trucks per day, the Zionist regime has imposed security restrictions on the entry of humanitarian aid into the area through the Rafah crossing. Palestinian sources say 25% of the aid that is supposed to reach the Gaza Strip every day is barely getting through. Since the start of the current war, the Gaza Strip has been facing severe shortages of raw materials, especially energy supplies, food and water, according to humanitarian organizations. As the Zionist regime enters its second month of barbaric attacks on the Gaza Strip, residential areas are still being bombarded with rockets and bombs. The number of martyrs and wounded is growing every hour. Popular support around the world brings hope to the hearts of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. Statements of solidarity with them make the will of the oppressed Gazans against the Zionist regime stronger than ever before.
