British counter-terrorism police have raided the home of investigative journalist and researcher, Asa Winstanley, in North London. About ten officers arrived at Winstanley's home before 6:00 a.m. Friday and showed him warrants authorizing them to search his home and car for paraphernalia and documents .

Officials informed the editor of the Electronic Intifada news site that the raid was linked to online posts he had published, and that he was being investigated for possibly inciting terrorism. Winstanley, however, was not arrested and has not yet been charged .

Defenders of human rights say that the invasion is another example of the British government trying to suppress and squeeze all those who oppose the cruel regime of Israel and to scare other people not to talk about the endless cruelty of the cruel regime .

Massoud Shadjareh of the Islamic Human Rights Commission based in London, said that the terrorism law has always been misused, and unfortunately, we are now seeing it being misused against a journalist. He has said that human rights defenders should not allow this to happen again.

The raid on Asa Winstanley's home is just the latest example of anti-terror laws being misused against independent journalists in a country that claims to be a safe haven for free speech and press freedom .

However, in recent months, Britain has used extensive powers against prominent journalists such as Kit Klarenberg and Richard Medhurst as well as human rights activists such as Sarah Wilkinson .

Activists fear that this type of invasion aims to silence all opposition to the crimes committed by Israel and normalize them in the eyes of the world .
