Israel is trying to establish a military base in Somaliland

The Qatari news website Middle East Monitor has reported that Israel is trying to establish a military base in Somaliland with the aim of controlling the Red Sea route.

There is a possibility that this will be confirmed considering that Israel has plans to officially recognize Somaliland as an independent country.

The area is located in the Gulf of Aden and borders Ethiopia, Somalia and Djibouti and is considered a geographically strategic area that has 740 kilometers of coastline on the Gulf of Aden.

Somaliland is located in the Gulf of Aden, near the Bab al-Mandeb estuary. About a third of the world's seaborne cargo passes through the port.
