British Foreign Minister: The war in Ukraine could end in 2026

British Foreign Minister, David Lammy has predicted that the fighting between Russia and Ukraine may continue for at least two more years and cross into 2026.

Lammy said this when he addressed a meeting of the ruling Labor party in Liverpool, while stressing the UK's commitment to supporting the government of Kiev. He noted that the government in London has committed to providing Ukraine with military aid of 3 billion pounds ($3.99 billion) annually "for as long as necessary."

Quoted by The Guardian newspaper, the British foreign minister has noted that the difficulties and challenges arising from the conflict between Russia and Ukraine are expected to be "deeper and more severe" in the coming years.

Lammy has claimed that this is an important time for courage, stability and patience to be shown to partners who stand side by side with Ukraine.

The remarks of the British foreign minister seem to target the position of the US President Joe Biden's administration of not being ready to allow Ukraine to use weapons provided by Western countries for long-range attacks in an area recognized internationally as belonging to Russia.

Moscow has warned that granting the permission, which Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky has been asking for for several months, will make NATO countries directly involved in the conflict and face an appropriate response from Russia.

Regarding the time to end the war between itself and Ukraine, Russia has never set a specific deadline and term, and has said several times that its military operation that began in February 2022 will continue until its goals are achieved. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov reiterated that position on Sunday when he said "there is no alternative to our [Russia's] victory"..
