Burkina Faso has expelled the French military commander in the country

  After Niger expelled the French ambassador, Burkina Faso has also taken the decision to expel the French military commander in the country. Last Friday, the Military Council ruling Burkina Faso asked the French military officer in the country to leave the French embassy in Ouagadougou - the capital of Burkina Faso - as soon as possible. An order issued by the Military Council of Burkina Faso has called the work of the French military in the country "destructive".

Relations between Burkina Faso and France have been tense after the Military Council came to power in Ouagadougou. On the other hand, following the threats of some African countries supported by France to attack Niger militarily, Burkina Faso has announced its support to Niamey against any French military intervention. The country of Burkina Faso, which is governed by a military council, previously issued a joint statement with Mali declaring its support for Niger and making it clear that it recognizes any military intervention in Niger as a declaration of war against Burkina Faso.
