Censorship of war news in the Gaza Strip by CNN
A prominent opposition portal announced that all news about the war in the Gaza Strip, which is covered by CNN, is indirectly censored by the Israeli army.
The Intercept report said that all CNN correspondents anywhere in the world who report on the Gaza Strip must send their news to the Israeli media office in Quds (Jerusalem) before publication. Although CNN claims that the purpose of this policy is to ensure the accuracy of the information contained in its reporting, the meaning of this policy in practice is that most of the media's news output is generated by reporters who must comply with Israeli military censorship laws. At CNN's Quds office, the Israeli army, in addition to defining what should not be reported, prevents the publication of articles it deems inappropriate. The Intercept also reported last month that the Israeli military recently identified eight problems that should be contained. For example, the IDF (Israeli Army) limited information about security cabinet meetings, Israeli hostages (captives) in the Gaza Strip, and weapons supplied to the IDF during the war. An employee at the CNN news network told the Intercept on condition of anonymity that content is often edited with particular subtlety to keep it close to the Israeli narrative.
