The protest is being held against three election bills that were brought to parliament last year. The bills are the Law on the Election of the President, Members of Parliament and Councilors and the Bill on the Amendment of the Laws of Political Parties, all for the year 2023. Another goal of the protest has been mentioned as pressuring the government to listen to the opinions of the people and to demand that it develop an emergency plan to deal with the rising cost of living for Tanzanians and the price system. Citizens have come out to participate in the protest since early this morning carrying banners with various slogans while the police strengthened security. The protest started from Mbezi Luis bus station towards the United Nations Offices. Earlier, the Regional Commissioner of Dar es Salaam, Albert Chalamila met with supporters of the Chadema party and conveyed the greetings of President Samia Suluhu Hassan to the protesters. The chairman of the Chadema party, Freeman Mbowe, who was seen at today's protest in the Buguruni area of ​​Dar es Salaam, said it will spread further and spread throughout the country. Chadema's protest today Mbowe has said: "We want those bills to be removed from parliament and to get a national agreement so that when those bills are returned to parliament, they will fix the problems caused by the serious violation of justice in 2020."
