China and US governments agree to double direct flights between the countries
The Chinese and American governments have approved increasing direct passenger flights from 48 to 70 per week, The latest promising sign ahead of the San Francisco summit between Presidents Xi and Biden. According to the state network CCTV, each side can now count on 35 connections until the spring of 2024. According to the Civil Aviation Administration of China, between the national carriers involved include Air China, China Eastern, China Southern, Hainan Airlines and Sichuan Airlines. The move "will encourage the constant resumption of flights between China and the US based on market demand and will provide more opportunities at an individual level and for economic and commercial exchanges".
