China; The US is the biggest nuclear threat in the world
China's Ministry of Defense spokesman said the United States is the biggest threat to the world when it comes to a possible nuclear conflict.
According to AP, Beijing accused Washington officials of making irresponsible decisions with the aim of maintaining US hegemony, especially by intimidating the international community with a nuclear arsenal.
Zhang Xiaogang made this statement in response to the Pentagon's decision to strengthen American forces stationed in Japan.
In a recent meeting with Japanese officials, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said the change was "one of the strongest developments in military relations between Tokyo and Washington in 70 years". He promised that the USA will protect Japan with all its power, including nuclear weapons.
The spokesman of the Ministry of Defense of China said in this regard: "Such steps will not only cause conflict, but also weaken regional stability and peace."
He noted: "The United States is the biggest nuclear threat to the world because it has the largest nuclear arsenal in the world and has adopted a policy that has allowed Washington to use these weapons for the first time. Recent U.S. actions in Japan only exacerbate tensions and increase the risk of nuclear proliferation and conflict in the region."
