China warns of resurgence of the COVID-19 outbreak through another species
Health officials in China have warned about the possibility of a re-emergence of the outbreak of the disease of COVID-19 in this month of January, which will be provoked by the increasing infection of the new species of JN.1.
Although the current cases of infection are of a low level, and the rate of tests carried out in the examination centers is less than one percent, the National Health Commission of China (NHC) has warned of an increase in the presence of the JN species. 1. Wang Dayan, Head of the National Influenza Center of China, has explained in the NHC press conference that experts have come to the conclusion that various types of respiratory diseases will spread during the winter and autumn season of this year, and among them, the influenza virus will be the main cause of the disease. Wang has attributed the increase in the JN.1 species to several factors including infected people entering China from abroad, low rates of influenza infection and weakened immunity. The US disease control authority has estimated that the JN.1 species already accounts for nearly 62 percent of cases nationwide, and is also leading in Europe. Despite the low rate of infection of COVID-19, Chinese hospitals are preparing for the possibility of an outbreak. Wang Guiqiang, head of the department of infectious diseases at the First Hospital of Peking University, said, they are preparing to take several measures including the provision of training programs, increasing the distribution of human resources and using technology to simplify processes. In addition, Wang has advised groups that are at greater risk of infection such as pregnant women, children and the elderly should give priority to the annual flu vaccine and remain in a good health environment.
