The ambassadors of the countries participating in the Organization of the Islamic Conference in London issued a statement yesterday condemning the insult to the Holy Quran. According to AAA , the statement, issued at the suggestion of the Chargé d'Affaires of the Iranian Embassy in London and at the initiative of the Ambassador of Iraq, refers to a series of statements issued by politicians, governments and international forums condemning the burning of the Koran in a number of countries, the participants emphasize that all stakeholders, including governments, should redouble their efforts to combat discriminatory behavior, xenophobia and hate speech, based on international human rights law.

Senior diplomats from the Organization of the Islamic Conference noted that insulting religious beliefs or values leads to the polarization of societies, which causes great tension and fuels anger, hatred and violence. They emphasized the need to prevent "acts that do not respect the beliefs of other groups of people and in no way can be classified as freedom of expression." On July 25, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution condemning any desecration of sacred scriptures and their desecration as a violation of international law.

The Danish Foreign Minister apologized for the burning of the Holy Quran in front of the embassies of Islamic countries in Copenhagen. According to AAA news agency, in a telephone conversation with his Algerian counterpart Ahmed Ataf, Lars Loke Rasmussen called these actions unacceptable and completely contrary to Danish traditions of freedom and tolerance. He also informed Ataf that the Danish government was at the end of the process of preparing a legal text that would stop these heinous acts.

The Danish Foreign Minister said that the legal text of this law could be submitted to the Danish parliament within four weeks. Over the past few months, the Qur'an has been burned in Sweden and Denmark, and Muslim countries have condemned this action, and some have called the ambassadors of Denmark and Sweden to express their note of protest against these actions.
