Damascus targeted by Israel: Syrian DCA shoots down several missiles
Israel has targeted the Syrian capital of Damascus in a new round of attacks on Syria, injuring a soldier.Israeli regime warplanes struck Damascus from the Golan Heights occupied by Tel Aviv in Syria, the official Syrian news agency SANA reported on Wednesday (June 14th).The airstrikes left a Syrian soldier "seriously injured and causing material damage", according to the report, citing a Syrian military source.
“Around 01:05 (22:05 GMT), the Israeli enemy carried out an aerial assault from the direction of the occupied Golan Heights targeting several positions southwest of Damascus. Syrian air defenses intercepted missiles launched by Israel and shot down some of them,” SANA said citing a military source.
The Golan Heights have been under Israeli occupation since 1967, when the Zionist regime launched a full-scale war against Arab states in the region, including Syria.Since then, the Tel Aviv regime has used the Golan Heights as a launching pad for its offensives against Syria. The attacks intensified in 2011, when Syria found itself in the grip of rampant foreign-backed terrorism.
The Tel Aviv regime's missile strikes regularly target the positions of the Syrian army or those of its allies.The last Israeli airstrike against Syria took place on May 29. Localities near Damascus were damaged. Israel has also repeatedly targeted Aleppo International Airport in northern Syria, often knocking it out of service.
The occupation regime has even used the Golan Heights to provide safe passage and medical care to anti-Syrian Takfiri terrorists, who are said to be fleeing the Syrian army's counter-terrorism operations.Damascus has repeatedly complained to the United Nations about Israeli aggression, urging the Security Council to take action against the Israeli regime's crimes.
