EU adds Hamas chief in Gaza Yahya Sinwar to terror blacklist
The European Union has placed the leader of the Palestinian Islamic Struggle Movement (HAMAS) in Gaza on its list of terrorists, on suspicion of having succeeded in the surprise attack on Al-Aqsa Mosque on October 7 last year.
According to the al-Jazeera news website, the move means that 27 member states of the European Union will block Sinwar's assets in those countries. In addition, the EU has banned the citizens of those European countries from doing any transaction with the leader of Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Sinwar was freed along with 1,000 other Palestinians in 2011, in a Palestinian prisoner exchange with Israeli soldiers, after 22 years in prison.
