European Union Agreement on Sanctions against Extremist Settlers
After attending a meeting of EU foreign ministers, Josep Borrell, who is responsible for EU foreign policy, said that the EU had reached an agreement on sanctions against extremist Zionist settlers.
According to RT, on Monday evening the head of the European Union's foreign policy department, pointing to weeks of disagreement among members of the union over a political agreement on sanctions against extremist Zionist settlers, said: "At a meeting of European Union foreign ministers, we reached an agreement on sanctions against extreme settlers (regime) of Israel."
Noting that these sanctions target individuals known to be responsible for violent acts, Borrell noted that these restrictions will include travel bans and asset freezes within the EU.
It is worth noting that for this political agreement to enter into force, the final approval of the political representatives of the member states of this union is required.
Discussions about imposing sanctions against extremist Israeli settlers have been going on in the European Union for several months and were initially stopped by a number of countries, including Germany, the Czech Republic and Austria, which are staunch supporters of the Israeli (regime) in the European Union, but the latest obstacle was Hungary, which, announced last week that it would end resistance, diplomats said.
