Exposé: How Facebook Amplifies Israel, Silences Palestine

In a damning exposé, the BBC World Service has revealed the draconian censorship imposed by Facebook on any news related to the Palestinian crisis.

Since October 2023, Facebook, among the most widely used social networks in the Arab world, has seen a dramatic upsurge in restrictions on Palestinian digital activism.

Simultaneously, it has amplified traffic to Israeli online contents, thereby distorting the digital discourse.

In this regard, the findings of a study of more than twenty leading Palestinian news pages, point to a sharp drop in audience engagement, attributed directly to Facebook's algorithmic control mechanisms.

Posts addressing the humanitarian catastrophe in Palestine are systematically deleted under spurious pretexts, effectively silencing critical opinions and obstructing the free flow of information.

Moreover, the platform's heightened sensitivity to certain terms and phrases has created insurmountable challenges for Palestinian journalists in their efforts to share visual and written content.

The research clearly demonstrates that Facebook's stringent censorship measures have sacrificed freedom of expression concerning the Palestinian crisis on the altar of pro-Israel bias.

Supporters of the Israeli regime, mirroring the regime's inherently oppressive nature, have denied Palestinians the right to a digital existence; which reflects their broader efforts to ethnically cleanse Palestinians.
