More than seven thousand tonnes of trash pile up in Paris

 

In Paris these days, people snap different kinds of pictures, with garbage piling up on the streets.Seven thousand tonnes of trash have been removed from the sidewalks of Paris. Garbage collectors have been on strike for weeks, joining the ranks of transportation staff, teachers, gas station workers, and water and electricity utility personnel.

The protests, which started in backlash to reports that the retirement age would be increased, have now transcended into a call for the resignation of Macron.Macron's administration has deployed thousands of police officers to crack down on the demonstrations.Jean-Luc Mélenchon, the leader of the French National Assembly's "La France Insoumise" party, warned Macron "to take heed of the expanding public outrage."

The French government has warned demonstrators not to resort to violence, and the political talks with the Élysée must be considerate and prudent.French police are brutally employing batons and tear gas against demonstrators on the streets of Paris, Nantes, and Marseille, while hundreds of citizens have been detained.
