Finland, NATO membership, parliament sets date for the vote
Finland's parliament will vote on the ratification of the country's application to join the North Atlantic Alliance before the parliamentary recess on 28 February. This was stated by the head of the parliamentary committee for foreign affairs, Jussi Halla-aho, during a press briefing. Previously, on May 17, 2022, the Finnish parliament had approved the request to join the North Atlantic Alliance with 188 votes in favor and 200 against. The commission's report, presented today, expresses support for the country's accession to the North Atlantic Alliance. The main ratification problem in Finland is related to the parliamentary elections scheduled for April 2 and, in connection with this, the parliamentary pause which begins on March 3rd.
