France arms Armenia

France is studying Armenia's defense needs. This was stated by French Defense Minister Sebastian Lecornu in an interview with Franceinfo radio station. Commenting on a journalist’s question whether France could intervene militarily to preserve the territorial integrity of Armenia, Lecornu said that President Macron is personally monitoring the situation.

“I have met with the Minister of Defense of Armenia on several occasions. In addition, I consider myself the first Minister of Defense who has had so many contacts with his Armenian counterpart. We have opened a defense mission in Armenia, which did not exist before and which allows us to conduct a daily dialogue with the Armenian the army and the authorities of Armenia,” said the head of the French Ministry of Defense.

Answering the question about whether there will be military intervention from France in connection with the problems of Armenia, Lecornu emphasized that he does not believe in this and that this question should be answered by the President of the Republic and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. “We are studying requests coming from Armenia: that is certainly what we are doing,” he said.
