Amid the crimes committed by Israel in Gaza, the European-Mediterranean Human Rights Watch stated: "The Zionist army burned a group of Palestinian refugees alive in Khan Yunis." Noting that the regime army is deliberately targeting civilians, the organization added: “The Israeli army carried out an attack on a refugee camp in the Al-Mawasi area of Khan Yunis, killing 20 Palestinians, most of them children. Another 18 people were injured and burned.”
More than a year after the Gaza war, Israel continues to kill civilians, even in refugee camps. During this period, more than 44 thousand Palestinians have been killed and 100 thousand injured. The bombing of Gaza continues. And civilians live mostly in camps or tents, in minimal conditions. On Thursday, Amnesty International Secretary-General Agnes Callamard presented a report on developments in Gaza and Israel’s attacks on the region, in which she stated that a genocide is taking place in Gaza. She noted: “After six months of comprehensive examination of the evidence and data, the only conclusion is that Israel has committed and continues to commit deliberate genocide in Gaza.”
Although the Zionist regime, with the support of the US and the West, has committed crimes against the Palestinians for decades, depriving them of their basic rights, the last year of war has shown that the regime knows no bounds in its actions. During this time, the Israeli army has targeted hospitals, health posts and schools, set fire to women’s and children’s camps, and banned the entry of medicine and food, officially committing a major genocide.
Rashida Tlaib, a Palestinian representative in the US Congress, wrote in X: “In light of the new Amnesty International report, my colleagues in Congress can no longer deny the genocide of the Palestinians. We must impose an arms embargo on Israel.” And the Secretary General of Amnesty International stated: “Governments that transfer weapons to Israel violate their obligations under the Genocide Convention and risk becoming complicit in genocide.”
Since the beginning of the Gaza war, Western countries have been talking about human rights on the one hand, while sending weapons to Israel and defending Tel Aviv’s positions on the other. They pretend that they cannot end apartheid and stop the genocide in Gaza, becoming Israel’s accomplices.
