Germany: Beijing must take responsibility for Ukraine
BERLIN - Meeting between German and Chinese foreign ministers in Berlin. At the center of the face-to-face war in Ukraine and possible EU sanctions. Beijing must assume its "responsibility" as a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council and to take action to end the war in Ukraine. The warning comes from German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock met her counterpart for the second time in a month. Euronews reports it.
In Berlin, Qin Gang urged both sides to cease hostilities but the head of German diplomacy reminded Moscow and Kiev cannot be treated equally. "In the light of good and evil, in the light of the aggressor and the victim, neutrality means not taking the side of the aggressor," Baerbock stressed.
The Chinese minister pointed out that Beijing "is acting for peace and negotiation", underlining that the ongoing war is a complex conflict that should be analyzed with "sobriety" rather than "emotion".
