Statistics show that, despite Western anti-Russian sanctions, Germany has increased its imports of Russian oil. The European Union has banned the transfer of oil derivatives from Russia by sea under the pretext of war in Ukraine. According to the DW news agency, statistics show that in the first seven months of this year the amount of oil imported by Germany from Russia increased 12 times compared to the same period last year. From January to July 2022, 37 million euros of Russian oil entered Germany via India, which in the same period this year reached 451 million euros. 

On the other hand, the German Fortexa Institute also announced in a report that India has significantly increased oil imports from Russia; So much so that in July 2023 alone this import reached around 60 million barrels. According to this German institute, this amount of Russian oil imported into India represents 40% of the country's total oil imports. In 2021, before the start of the war in Ukraine, the share of Russian oil exports to India was only 2%. India imports the largest amount of oil from Russia at significant discounts, and Russian companies, including Rosneft and UCP, each supply 49% of the oil to Indian refineries.
