Hamas spokesman: Netanyahu seeks to prolong war
Osama Hamdan, one of the leaders of the Palestinian Islamic resistance movement Hamas, stressed on Monday evening that the behavior of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu shows that he does not care about the agreement (on the exchange of prisoners) and seeks to prolong the war.
According to ArabNews, Hamdan added: “We are negotiating not only for the exchange of prisoners, but beyond that, our negotiations are aimed at stopping the attacks, but Israeli responses are not what the resistance demands.” The Palestinian official added: "Netanyahu speaks as if his army has succeeded in defeating resistance throughout the Gaza Strip, when the reality looks different." Hamdan stressed that any agreement that does not include an end to attacks on the Gaza Strip will not meet the wishes of the Palestinian people, and Israel's response to the Paris proposal has only created obstacles that do not help reach an agreement. He also stated: “America, along with the Zionists, bears full responsibility for the massacres in the Gaza Strip.” Hamdan called on the Arab League and the UN Security Council to take immediate action to prevent further killings of Zionists in Rafah. In the end, he noted that stability in the region will only come when the Zionist regime’s attacks on the Gaza Strip stop and a Palestinian state is formed with its capital in Eastern Quds.”
