Hamas warns that the occupation of Rafah is pushing the region towards disaster
The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas said the Israeli attack on Rafah in southern Gaza will worsen the humanitarian disaster in the entire besieged territory.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Hamas movement said Israel's incursion into the Rafah crossing was aimed at undermining ongoing ceasefire efforts.
During today's attack in Rafah, Israeli forces have killed at least 35 civilians, including women and children, in 12 hours.
"By deciding to close the Rafah and Kerem Shalom border crossings, Israel is leading the region towards disaster and continuing its policy of starvation and persecution of the Palestinians," the statement said.
Reports say the occupation of Rafah will displace more than 1 million Palestinians, cut off humanitarian aid and block sick and injured Palestinians from receiving medical treatment.
The incursion came after Hamas said it had agreed to a ceasefire proposal put forward by Qatar and Egypt. But the Israeli regime said the proposed deal does not meet its demands.
The Palestinian resistance movement said Benjamin Netanyahu only cares about his interests and those of his extremist cabinet.
Further in the statement, Hamas held the administration of US President Joe Biden and the international community fully responsible for the continuation of Israeli crimes.
