Health situation in Gaza Strip is catastrophic
The director of field hospitals in the Gaza Strip announced that the polio virus is spreading rapidly in the area.
Referring to the disastrous health situation in the Gaza Strip, the director of field hospitals, Marwan Al-Hams, said that all hospitals in this area are on the verge of becoming unusable due to the attacks and bombings of the Zionist regime, AP reported.
Al-Hams stressed that 500,000 children under the age of 10 in the Gaza Strip need vaccinations, adding that 200 of these children are expected to contract polio. This Palestinian official stated that the occupation regime in Jerusalem provides the necessary conditions for the spread of the polio virus, and that the destruction of infrastructure and clean water sources is contributing to the spread of infectious diseases. The Palestinian Ministry of Health had previously described the presence of the polio virus in the Gaza Strip’s water and sewage system as a health disaster and warned of its spread.
The World Health Organization and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) recently issued a statement warning of the possibility of polio spreading among children in Gaza.
