A spokesman for the United States National Security Council warned that if the White House government experienced a shutdown, then Washington could only support Ukraine in the war, for a few weeks. John Kirby, Monday (25/9/2023) in an interview with CNN said, if Congress does not pass a new funding law, then the US Department of Defense, the Pentagon can only provide support to Ukraine in the war with Russia, for just a few weeks. At the same time, Congress is currently continuing heated and serious negotiations regarding a new budget draft that could streamline aid for Ukraine, worth 25 billion dollars.

In connection with this, John Kirby said, "We still have a little budget left to continue aid, therefore I think for the next few weeks or a little longer, there will be no problems, but without the request for improvement that we have submitted, there will definitely be impact on our ability to provide good support to Ukraine, in the fall and winter." He added, "If the US federal government shuts down and requests for improvements are not achieved, our ability to achieve victory on the battlefield will be seriously affected." US government funding will end on Saturday (30/9/2023), and October 1 is the start of the new fiscal year. If Congress fails to pass legislation renewing funding by that deadline, the US government will experience a shutdown.
