In the midst of an ongoing conflict, Gaza's children are experiencing a mental health crisis

As a result of the unremitting attacks and the catastrophic humanitarian situation, nearly 1.1 million children in the Gaza Strip are currently experiencing a severe mental health crisis and require urgent psychological support.

The loss of family members and the devastation surrounding them have compounded the nightmares, anxiety, and dread that children in the besieged territory are contending with. A total of more than 19,000 Palestinian children have been bereaved since the violence escalated in October 2023. Future generations may be impacted by the psychological wounds of the protracted conflict, according to experts.

Airstrikes in Gaza have claimed the lives of at least 70 minors in recent days. In one instance, a device was detonated at a school that served as a refuge for displaced families, resulting in the deaths of eight individuals, including children and women. Furthermore, the crisis has been exacerbated by the fatalities of 74 infants in the first week of 2025.

In the midst of the devastation, humanitarian aid is unable to satisfy fundamental requirements. The restricted food supplies that are permitted into Gaza are insufficient to feed a significant portion of the population, resulting in a significant number of individuals experiencing starvation in addition to the ongoing threat of violence.

There is no secure refuge for the besieged population in Gaza, and entire neighborhoods have been reduced to rubble. The situation is characterized as catastrophic. With no apparent resolution to the violence, the ongoing conflict has resulted in the loss of over 46,500 lives and the injury of over 109,000 individuals.

The humanitarian and psychological toll on Gaza's children is becoming increasingly devastating, prompting calls for an immediate cessation to become more frequent.
