Increasing pressure on Palestinian supporters in the US during Trump's second term

With the start of Donald Trump's second term as president, along with his government's threats and actions against Palestinian supporters, pressure on these people and movements within the country has also increased significantly.

In this regard, the movement of a pro-Palestinian group at the University of Michigan, which called for the divestment of this educational institution's investments in Israeli companies, has been suspended for two years and its funding has been canceled.

The group "Students United for Freedom and Equality" has been accused of violating regulations by gathering in front of the home of a university administrator and staging an unauthorized protest on one of the university's campuses during last year's spring break protests. Disciplinary action against the named student group began two weeks ago, on January 16, when the group was barred from using university grounds.

During the Gaza war and in protest against the crimes of the Zionist regime, especially the genocide of Palestinians living in Gaza, large protests were held by Palestinian supporters on American universities, which led to the arrest of about 3,200 people.

Many universities, most notably Columbia University in New York City, were the scene of Palestinian protests during the Gaza war. The students involved demanded that their universities cut their financial ties with Israel, and at the same time that the United States end its military aid to Israel.

Palestinian supporters face an iron fist from the police

In the early days of his second term, Donald Trump, the new president of the United States, has once again followed the same path he took in his first term. In his first term, Trump gave unprecedented support to the Zionist regime and took new steps in support of Israel and against the Palestinians. These actions and positions have met with positive responses from Tel Aviv.

Trump, in a move to support Israel, has lifted a ban on the sale of 2,000-pound bombs to Israel. The ban was announced and implemented during Joe Biden's presidency.

The Biden administration claimed that it was concerned that Israel's use of MK-84 bombs against densely populated Gaza would result in large civilian casualties.

On Wednesday, January 29, 2025, the US President signed an executive order to combat so-called anti-Semitism, promising to expel foreign students and others who have participated in pro-Palestinian protests.

In this regard, Trump said: "To all immigrants living in the United States who joined the jihadist protests, we are warning you: this year, 2025, we will seek them out and deport them. I will also immediately revoke the visas of students who are supporters of HAMAS."

In this executive order, the President of the United States directs federal agencies to expel anti-Semitic activists from the United States, including students.

This executive order authorizes the deportation of resident aliens, including students with visas, on the pretext of violating the law in anti-Israel protests following Operation Al-Aqsa Storm on October 7, 2023.

During his presidential campaign, Trump called for the expulsion of Hamas-supporting students who are legally in the United States.

This executive order is part of a series of orders that Trump has signed since taking office because he wants to increase his powers and fulfill his election promises, and above all, to continue serving the Zionist regime.

In his first term as president, Donald Trump has taken unprecedented steps in favor of the Zionist regime. In fact, one of the clearest manifestations of Trump's foreign policy is his position on the issue of unconditional support for Israel and the implementation of measures that previous US presidents refused to take.

Meanwhile, Trump has taken new steps in support of Israel, one of the most recent cases being the issuance of an executive order lifting sanctions against Israeli settlers and Zionist entities. After signing the executive order, the US Treasury Department lifted all previous sanctions imposed on settlers and Zionist entities responsible for atrocities against Palestinians in the West Bank.

Following the decision, the American activists protested the decision of the new US government by holding protests and also by holding a demonstration in front of the State Department building in Washington, imitating the brutal actions of Zionist settlers against the Palestinians of the West Bank and with these actions they expressed their opposition to the policies of the new US government to lift sanctions against Zionist settlers.
