Increasing Russian oil imports to Germany
Statistics show that, despite Western anti-Russian sanctions, Germany has increased imports of Russian oil. The European Union, under the pretext of the war in Ukraine, banned the transportation of oil products to Russia by sea. According to AAA, statistics show that in the first seven months of this year, the volume of oil Germany imported from Russia increased 12 times compared to the same period last year. From January to July 2022, Russian oil worth 37 million euros was delivered through India to Germany. This year the figure for the same period was 451 million euros. On the other hand, the German institute Fortexa said in its report that India has significantly increased its oil imports from Russia, with volumes amounting to about 60 million barrels in July 2023 alone. According to this German institute, this volume of Russian oil imports into India accounts for 40% of the country's total oil imports. In 2021, before the war in Ukraine, the share of Russian oil exports to India was only two percent. India imports the largest volume of oil from Russia at significant discounts, and Russian companies, including Rosneft and UCP, each provide 49% of Indian refineries with oil.
