Dozens of environmental activists have marched before the start of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) meeting in New York, USA with the aim of ending the use of fossil fuels. In the gathering of environmental activists, which is part of a week-long protest that is also expected to take place in many countries, some environmental activists had placards that read: "Stop the use of fossil fuels", "Fossil fuels they kill" and "declare a climate change emergency." The media has reported that more than 500 protests have been planned in 54 countries including the United States, Germany, England, South Korea and India; where the goal of the protest is to take immediate action to prevent climate change and global warming.

The demonstration is taking place where it is expected that in the next two months, the United Nations will convene a Conference on Climate Change in the name of the COP28 Conference. The United Nations recently warned that the world is going to suffer from extreme heat and that there is a need to take great action in all fields, including reducing the use of coal as an alternative fuel. Many scholars believe that greenhouse gases produced by fossil fuels cause global warming and natural disasters such as floods, droughts and forest fires.
