India seeks to cooperate with Russia in the development of the Northern Sea Route. As "RIA Novosti" informs, the Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways of India Sarbananda Sonowal said about it. He had a meeting with Alexey Chekunkov, Minister of Far East and Arctic Development of the Russian Federation in Vladivostok. "India is committed to cooperation in the development of the Northern Sea Route, realizing its potential for expanding connectivity and trade," Sonowal said. During the meeting, the ministers discussed a wide range of maritime communication issues between India and Russia to enhance maritime cooperation, including the possibility of using new transport corridors such as the Northern Sea Route and the Vladivostok-Eastern Sea Corridor. India and Russia have also agreed to train Indian sailors to sail in polar and arctic waters at Admiral Nevelsky State Maritime University.
