Investigation reveals: More than 9,000 children were sexually abused in the church in Germany
Research shows that more than 9,000 children were sexually abused in the German Protestant Church.
More information says that, research on sexual abuse against children in the German Protestant Church (EKD) has estimated that the number of affected children could be as high as 9,355. The study, published Thursday, made the estimate after reviewing 2,225 cases of sexual abuse investigated and identifying 1,259 perpetrators since 1946. The small number of files provided by the churches of different regions of Germany meant that the number was probably "a drop in the ocean", co-publisher of the study Martin Wazlawik said in a press conference. The total estimated number of perpetrators of such acts was around 3,500 among the pastors and officials of the church, according to a study commissioned by the EKD church. In recent years, scandals of rape and desecration of priests, bishops and officials of various churches in the United States and in Europe have faced a great wave of criticism. Pope Francis, the leader of the Catholic Church in the World has admitted several times in the past that the church is facing a crisis of sexual abuse, while the priests and bishops of the church are making monks into sex slaves. There are hundreds of cases of rape and adultery facing priests and other leaders of the church, which have been piled up in European and American courts waiting to be investigated, which has lowered the status of the Catholic Church in the world.
