Iraqi emphasis on Baghdad's position in support of the Palestinian people
The Iraqi Prime Minister once again emphasized the country's strong position in supporting the Palestinian people and opposing any attack by the Israeli regime on the Gaza Strip. US Secretary of State Blinken, amid protests from the Iraqi people and political factions, arrived in Baghdad on Sunday, November 5, on a several-hour trip to meet and talk with the country's Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani.He stressed the urgent need to open checkpoints to prevent the humanitarian catastrophe in the region from worsening. At this meeting, both sides discussed and reviewed developments in the Gaza Strip, emphasized the need to contain the crisis and prevent its spread, and discussed the dire humanitarian situation of the Palestinian people.
At this meeting, Shia al-Sudani and Blinken emphasized the importance of coordinating and working to send food, water, supplies, medical equipment and other assistance needed to meet the humanitarian needs of the people of Gaza. The Iraqi Prime Minister also stressed the need for international responsibility for the failure to prevent the daily massacre of innocent women and children by Israeli soldiers, attacks on hospitals and shelters, and the continued approach of increasing tensions and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people. At the meeting, Blinken also indicated the US government's desire to continue cooperation and bilateral coordination with Baghdad to strengthen regional and international stability and highlighted Washington's efforts to send humanitarian aid to the people of the Gaza Strip. On October 7, 2023, Palestinian resistance forces launched a surprise operation called Al-Aqsa Storm from the Gaza Strip (southern Palestine) against the positions of the occupying Quds Force regime and this regime, in order to take revenge and compensate for its defeat and stop resistance operations, closed all checkpoints points in the Gaza Strip, constantly bombing residential and medical areas of this enclave region.
