Israel and the rising tsunami of homicides
Going to a café in Zionist settlements or a coffeehouse in the Arab region? Which one is the safer option for the Israelis?
According to Mohammed Darawsheh, an expert on the Arab community in the occupied territories, the answer is unquestionably the first option. There is a high level of hostility towards Israeli occupying forces in regions with a predominantly Arab population.
Darawsheh argues that the killing of Arabs has doubled compared to last year. The reports also suggest that the Israeli police exhibit preferential treatment towards Jewish criminal gangs. Darawsheh adds that Arabs make up only 21of the Zionist regime's population, yet over 70 of homicides occur in Arab-populated areas.
During his election campaign, the Zionist Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, pledged to bolster the police force and put an end to violence against the Arab community. However, during the first five months of this year, criminal organisations murdered 50 Arabs in the Galilee, Triangle, and Negev regions. Shockingly, only three out of the 48 murder cases have been addressed so far.
The majority of incidents, specifically 90 are associated with organised criminal activities. Criminal gangs frequently engage in armed conflicts, using firearms, in the streets to settle scores. The number of murder cases is on the rise in Israel, with reports indicating that such incidents are no longer confined to Arab-majority regions but are now spreading to mixed Arab-Jewish areas as well.
