These days, the Zionist regime is trying to destabilize the situation in Lebanon under various pretexts in order to achieve its goals. Israeli aggression in Lebanon, interference in the country's internal affairs, terrorism and assassinations are the most widely reported news in the media in recent days.
Lebanon has been attacked eight times by the Zionist regime: in 1948, 1967, 1973, 1978, 1982, 1993, 1996 and 2006. During these years, hundreds of thousands of people have been killed, and the country has suffered billions of dollars in damage. On September 23, 2024, Israel attacked Lebanon and, in addition to violating the country's sovereignty, killed thousands of innocent people. Although a 60-day ceasefire was established between the Israeli regime and Lebanon on November 27 through international mediation, the regime did not adhere to the agreement and repeatedly violated the ceasefire regime.
On October 31, 2022, when the term of former Lebanese President Michel Aoun ended without electing a successor, a political vacuum arose in the country and the parliament was unable to resolve the issue. And this situation was directly related to the steps of the United States and Israel to hinder the formation of a political structure in the country, as the latter did not want stability to be established in Lebanon.
Although during a recent meeting with the US Deputy Ambassador for Near East Affairs Morgan Ortagus, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said that permanent stability in southern Lebanon is linked to the withdrawal of the Israeli regime’s forces, Beirut’s passive response to Israeli aggression and interference in the country’s affairs allowed the regime to continue its actions. The Zionist regime does not want security to prevail in Lebanon, knowing that in order to achieve its goals, Tel Aviv needs an insecure and unstable Lebanon.
However, the lack of decisions by the new authorities that are appropriate to the current conditions in Lebanon, on the one hand, and Israel’s moves to provoke a crisis in the country, on the other, are reminiscent of the Iranian proverb “catching fish from murky water.” The proverb is about a fisherman who was fishing in a river. He had put a fishing net and a piece of rope tied to a stone in the river. The rope moved and muddied the water. A passerby, seeing this, said to the fisherman: “This is drinking water, and you are muddying it and making it unfit for us.” The fisherman replied: “When the rope moves and the water becomes muddy, the fish lose their way and end up in my net.”
The proverb is about taking advantage of chaotic and disorderly situations and it confirms that Israel is taking advantage of the crises in Lebanon to achieve its goals. Therefore, the authorities, the people, and the elite of this country must be aware of this devastating and ongoing threat.
