Israeli airstrikes prevent humanitarian aid
Israeli planes have launched a new attack against Syria, this time at the international airport in the northwest city of Aleppo. According to Syrian media, citing a military source, the Israeli airstrike was carried out from the Mediterranean west of the coastal city of Latakia early Tuesday.
The military source added that the attack only caused material damage to the runway at Aleppo International Airport and rendered the airport inoperative.Syrian media had previously said that the country's air defenses had intercepted Israeli missiles heading towards the Mediterranean and shot down a number of them.
Aleppo International Airport is one of the main entry points for foreign planes carrying humanitarian aid to victims of the country's recent devastating earthquake. The Israeli act of aggression followed another attack in early February when the regime's planes hit the Syrian capital and areas around it, particularly a number of residential buildings in the Kafr Sousa neighborhood of central Damascus. Tal al-Masih, near the town of Shahba, north of al-Suwayda in south-western Syria, was another target of this attack.
The Syrian Health Ministry said five people were killed in the attack, including a soldier, while fifteen others were injured, some seriously. the Zionist regime frequently violates Syrian sovereignty by attacking military positions in the country, particularly those of the Hezbollah resistance movement, which has played a key role in supporting the Syrian army in its fight against foreign-backed terrorists.
The Tel Aviv regime has been a key supporter of terrorist groups fighting President Bashar al-Assad's government since foreign-backed militancy erupted in Syria in early 2011. Syria has repeatedly complained to the United Nations about Israeli attacks and called on the Security Council to take action against Tel Aviv's crimes, but this has fallen on deaf ears.
