Italy, absolute poverty is growing: 2 million families in crisis
There are 2.18 million families in absolute poverty, equal to 8.3% of the total and 0.6% more than the 7.7% in 2021.
There are 5.6 million individuals in the same state (9.7%), still increasing by 0.6% compared to the previous year (9.1%).
The highest incidence is confirmed in the South, where it reaches 11.2%. Followed by the North-East (7.9%) and the North-West (7.2%). There are 1.27 million minors in absolute poverty, an increase of 0.8% compared to the previous year. "A worsening largely due to the acceleration of inflation", explains Istat.
