Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has warned that Trump's 'America First' policy bears disturbing similarities to the slogan 'Germany is above all' used by the Nazis to assert national superiority and superiority over others.

In an article published in Tuesday's edition of the journal 'Russia in Global Affairs', Lavrov said Washington's approach undermines the UN Charter and the post-war international order based on the equality of sovereign states.

The Russian Foreign Minister noted that this basis was included in the Yalta-Potsdam agreements signed in 1945 by the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic, the USSR, the United States, and the United Kingdom, to create a modern international system.

However, Lavrov said, after the return to power of US President Donald Trump's administration, Washington's interpretation of international processes since World War II has taken a new direction.

"'America First' bears a frightening resemblance to Hitler's slogan of 'Germany above all,'" Lavrov noted, adding that an approach that follows the trend of "peace through force" could be the final blow to diplomacy.

The Russian Foreign Minister noted in his text that such statements and ideological structures do not show "the slightest respect" for Washington's international legal obligations under the UN Charter.

It will be recalled that, on January 20, and immediately after being sworn in as president, Trump issued a document describing the 'America First Trade Policy' as "a critical component of national security". The document indicated that he would continue the trade policies established during his first term, prioritizing the American economy.../
