Malaysian Minister of Religion Calls for the Implementation of Hajat Prayers for Palestine
Malaysian Minister of Religious Affairs Mohd Na'im Mokhtar asked mosque administrators to carry out daily prayers during the holy month of Ramadan to continue praying for the protection of the Palestinian people.
The Antara website quoted a statement accessed in Kuala Lumpur, Saturday, reporting that Mohd Na'im had asked mosque managers under the supervision of the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (JAKIM), namely the Negara Mosque, Putra Mosque and Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque to carry out hajat prayers.
Apart from that, he said he also asked mosques and surau under the administration of the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department (JAWI) to also carry out hajat prayers.
"This month of Ramadan must be an opportunity for Muslims throughout the world to continue praying for the protection of the Palestinian people," he said.
"Indeed, prayer is a weapon for Muslims to obtain pleasure and protection from Allah SWT," he said.
He also said that the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) expressed full support for the firmness conveyed by Malaysian Prime Minister (PM) Anwar Ibrahim regarding the Palestinian issue during his recent official working visit to Germany.
According to him, this firm stance deserves appreciation because it reflects Malaysia's seriousness in opposing the atrocities of the Israeli Zionist regime in Palestine. And that stance has been repeatedly confirmed on the UN's international stage.
The oppression against the Palestinian people in Gaza, he said, has been going on for decades and since then Malaysia has not changed its stance.
More than 30,000 Palestinians have become victims, while more than 73,000 have been injured due to the tyranny of the Israeli Zionist regime since October 2023. The Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) calls on all people, including the world community, to continue to condemn Israel's actions and urge that these attacks stop. (PH)
