Moqtada Sadr's call to the Arab League for an emergency meeting
The leader of the Iraqi movement, Sadr, called on the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to hold an emergency meeting in Iraq or any other country in support of Islam and the Koran. According to the Al-Maluma newsbase, Muqtada Sadr at a press conference in Baghdad called on the countries of the world, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the League of Arab States to pass a law that criminalizes the burning of the Koran and will consider this act a terrorist crime. Calling on residents of Islamic countries to declare their support for the Koran, he said : "The burning of this holy book and the Iraqi flag in the month of Muharram shows that the problem goes beyond Islamic religions, and he called on followers of all religions to support the religion and the Koran."
Sadr said, "America condemned the burning of the Swedish embassy in Baghdad, while they have no right to interfere in this matter, and it would be better to condemn the burning of the Koran." He asked the Muslims of European countries to support the Koran in all countries, especially in Sweden, in order to establish Hossein's rituals with great enthusiasm. The desecration of the Holy Koran was condemned by many Arab and Islamic countries.
