More than a thousand African immigrants arrive in Spain

Rescuers say it was the largest boat full of migrants ever seen. About three weeks ago, a boat carrying 271 migrants arrived in the Canary Islands. The Red Cross has announced that, last Saturday 738 migrants arrived on the island of El Hierro, 98 on the island of Tenerife and 150 on the island of Gran Canaria. The seven islands that make up Spain's Canary Islands have become a major destination for asylum seekers leaving Africa for Europe. From the beginning of January to the middle of this month of October 2023, more than 23,530 immigrants have arrived on the islands, a number that has increased by 80% compared to the same period last year. Reports indicate that, since the beginning of this year, at least 1,000 migrants have died en route to the Canary Islands. Racism and the policies of European countries to refuse to accept African immigrants have caused many human disasters for these immigrants.
