In a powerful speech on Thursday night, Seyed Hassan Nasrallah, the Secretary General of Hezbollah in Lebanon, accused the United States and the United Kingdom of creating and supporting terrorist groups to tarnish the image of Islamic resistance movements. Speaking during the funeral ceremony of Imam Hussein, Nasrallah alleged that intelligence services from both nations have been actively involved in establishing groups like ISIL to discredit the values associated with jihad, martyrdom, and resistance.
Nasrallah stated that since 2000, there has been a concerted campaign in the West, across cultural, media, and other platforms, to vilify everything related to resistance, turning the term "jihad" into a negative concept. He highlighted that American and British intelligence agencies have taken steps to foster terrorist groups, thereby justifying their military presence in the region.
According to Nasrallah, elements of ISIL, particularly in Syria, are being housed in camps controlled by the United States, such as the Al-Hol camp in Haskeh province. Reports from local sources indicate that the U.S. military has been relocating ISIL terrorists from prisons to military bases, where they are allegedly being trained and armed to carry out terrorist attacks. This, Nasrallah argued, provides a pretext for the continued American military presence in West Asia, despite increasing regional pressure for their withdrawal.
Nasrallah's accusations come amid ongoing tensions and conflicts in the Middle East, where the activities of terrorist groups continue to pose significant challenges. The Hezbollah leader's remarks underscore the complex dynamics at play and the deep-seated mistrust between regional actors and Western powers. As the situation evolves, the international community remains focused on finding solutions to the pervasive threat of terrorism and addressing the root causes of instability in the region.
