Near Jenin, a Hamas-affiliated brigade launched a missile towards an Israeli settlement.
A Hamas-affiliated brigade in the occupied West Bank city of Jenin claimed responsibility for launching a rocket towards an Israeli settlement in the area. The al-Ayyash unit of Hamas' military branch, the Qassam Brigades, said in a statement posted on Thursday that they had fired a Qassam-1 rocket towards the settlement of Ram-On. The statement blamed Israeli atrocities, such as Israelis breaking into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in the ancient city of al-Quds, for the operation.
"Al-Aqsa Mosque is a red line and we will never allow the Zionists to violate it," it read. Since Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's far-right government gained power in December, Israeli settler intrusions into Al-Aqsa Mosque and violence against Palestinians have intensified. Itamar Ben-Gvir, Israel's far-right security minister, was among the hundreds of settlers who stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque through the Mughrabi Gate earlier on Thursday. The occupying military accompanied the settlers and barred Muslims from approaching the holy place. This morning, in observance of the Jewish holiday of Tisha B'Av, Israeli occupation troops barred Palestinian worshipers from accessing Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa Mosque while permitting hundreds of colonial Israeli settlers to breach into the sacred site. image: il2CUSdAd4 via Twitter (Tweet by Quds News Network) July 27, 2023 Only Muslims are allowed to pray on the grounds of Al-Aqsa Mosque due to an agreement reached more than a century ago.
At some times and in specific regions, non-Muslim guests are welcome. The regime's attacks on Palestinians in different parts of the occupied territories, especially against Nablus and the adjoining city of Jenin, have coincided with the recurrent storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound by Israeli settlers. The Tel Aviv regime also attacked Jenin and the nearby refugee camp from the air and on the ground on July 3-4. The assault caused the deaths of at least 12 Palestinians and injuries to 140 more. Israeli troops storm al-Quds refugee camp On Thursday, Israeli soldiers invaded the Shu'fat Palestinian refugee camp in al-Quds. WAFA news agency cited local sources in reporting that regime troops and personnel of the Israel Tax Agency broke into multiple stores in the camp. Israeli authorities often break into camp stores owned by Palestinians in order to extort taxes.
