New York Times: No Signs of Hamas Military Collapse

The New York Times newspaper, Wednesday (27/12/2023) reported about doubts regarding Israel's ability to destroy the Palestinian Islamic resistance movement, Hamas. The Prime Minister of the Zionist regime, Benjamin Netanyahu, has repeatedly emphasized that the Gaza war will not be stopped as long as the target of eliminating Hamas has not been achieved. Meanwhile, the government of the President of the United States, Joe Biden, has urged Israel, through its envoys, to direct its maneuvers to a lighter and more focused stage in the Gaza war. In an article written by Neil MacFarquhar, the New York Times wrote, "Critics from inside and outside Israel question whether the desire to crush Hamas, an organization with deep roots, is reasonable or not." A former Israeli internal security adviser, in an interview with the New York Times newspaper, called Israel's target, to crush Hamas, an unclear target. According to MacFarquhar, analysts say the most optimal result that Israel could achieve is to weaken Hamas' military capabilities, so that it cannot repeat an attack like last October 7. However, he added, such a goal would also depend on Israel's strenuous, painstaking efforts. (HS)
