The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) has strongly condemned the US's political and military aggression after a US Navy aircraft carrier docked in the port of Busan, South Korea.

The statement was made through an official statement by Kim Yo Jong, sister of DPRK leader Kim Jong Un. The statement was published on Tuesday by the North Korean News Agency (KCNA).

Its statement said: "Immediately after the new US administration came to power this year, it has increased political and military aggression against the DPRK, continuing the hostile policy of the previous administration."

He accused former US President Donald Trump of intensifying political and military aggression against his country. Ms. Kim added that the new US administration is continuing the same hostile policy against Pyongyang.

He highlighted that the United States has escalated its tensions with Pyongyang this month by bringing the aircraft carrier, the USS Carl Vinson , to the port of Busan.

According to a statement from the US Navy, the USS Carl Vinson, the lead ship of the US strike group, arrived in Busan on Sunday. Joint military exercises between South Korea and the United States known as "Freedom Shield" are expected to begin this month.

Frequent military exercises between South Korea and the United States have forced North Korea to develop its nuclear weapons and missile technology. Pyongyang sees the joint military exercises as preparations for an invasion against it.

Relations between South Korea and North Korea are at their worst in years, with North Korea conducting multiple ballistic missile tests last year as a way to counter joint US-South Korean military exercises.

Last week, North Korea test-fired strategic cruise missiles into the Yellow Sea, as part of exercises that Pyongyang said were aimed at demonstrating its "retaliatory strike" capability .

China has announced a response to the tariffs announced against the country by US President Donald Trump.

On Tuesday, China retaliated against new US tariffs, announcing a 10%-15% tariff increase on various US agricultural and food products.

Beijing has also imposed export and investment restrictions on twenty-five US companies on national security grounds.

Ten of these 25 US companies have been targeted by China for selling arms to Taiwan, which China claims as its territory.

China's retaliatory tariffs come as US President Donald Trump's 10% tariff on Chinese goods goes into effect on March 4. That brings the total tariff to 20%.

Trump says it's because China is not taking steps to stop the flow of drugs from China into the United States.

Analysts have said Beijing still hopes to reach a deal with the Trump administration, but the retaliatory tariffs threaten to escalate the trade war between the two economic giants.

Shortly after Trump announced the tariffs, China announced on Sunday that it "firmly opposes" the tariffs imposed by the US against Beijing, and stressed that it would take "corresponding measures to firmly safeguard China's rights and interests."

Experts on business, entrepreneurship, and empowerment say that the US government's decision to impose high tariffs on goods imported from Canada, Mexico, and China will further harm Americans.
