Zionist regime Internal Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir's plan to put pressure on Palestinian prisoners was opposed by members of Benjamin Netanyahu's cabinet. According to the Arab News  agency, a meeting on Sunday to review Itamar Ben-Gvir's plan to increase pressure on Palestinian prisoners turned into a verbal conflict between Ben-Gvir and the Chief of the General Staff of the Zionist Army, Herzi Halevi. At this meeting, the prime minister of the Zionist regime, fearing a strong reaction from the Palestinians, postponed a decision on the Ben Gvir plan until after the Zionist holidays. At this meeting, Herzi Halevi attacked the Zionist regime's Minister of Internal Security and noted: "The lives of Israelis are more important than your plan."

Since Netanyahu's far-right coalition cabinet and extremist ministers such as Itamar Ben-Gvir came to power, conditions for Palestinian prisoners in Zionist regime prisons have worsened. Ben-Gvir's decisions caused disagreements and disputes between Zionist ministers and the regime's security agencies on several occasions. Ben-Gvir, who has no choice to confront the struggles and growing operations of Palestinian youth fighters in response to Zionist crimes other than to put pressure on Palestinian prisoners, has previously threatened to tighten prison conditions. As a first reaction to Ben-Gvir's order, Palestinian prisoners in Zionist regime prisons announced that they would begin an indefinite hunger strike in two weeks to regain their legal rights. Palestinian resistance groups also warned of any attacks on Palestinian prisoners and stressed that they would respond to such actions.
